Do I need a survey?

A common assumption people make is that a mortgage valuation is enough to ensure confidence in pursuing a purchase of a property. WRONG.

A valuation simply a brief inspection of the property for the benefit of the lender and not yourself. It provides them with the confidence to lend you the money and that is all.

A homebuyers or full structural survey can give you the confidence to pursue the purchase of a property as a qualified surveyor can inspect and then give you a full report of the condition of the property.

First Time Buyer?

RICS are highlighting key points about how essential it is to get a survey in their latest post:

“First time buyers, do you understand the buying process?

We’re urging you to understand the importance of commissioning a Home Buyer Survey before committing to purchasing any property.

Many individuals do not realise that the mortgage valuation is not a full survey and is for the benefit of the lender only.
